▎1. Project Introduction
This Indian customer’s primary business is the production of coal. Their production plant has a low level of automation, and most of them are manually operated. Moreover, a large amount of dust is generated during production and transportation, which pollutes the environment.
Nowadays, countries worldwide are increasingly protecting the environment, and the once outdated production and transportation methods can no longer meet the requirements of modern production.
Therefore, our client required us to manufacture a set of high-level automatic packaging lines with strong dust removal capability.
1.1 About Coal Ash
Coal ash is a white powder formed after burning coal, which can be used as fertilizer and adsorption, purification, and catalysis. Coal ash particles are microscopic in diameter, light in mass, porous, and have high air content.
During the process of packing and handling, the material inside the bag is easily distributed unevenly. Therefore, it is necessary to use the degassing structure to degas air to make the material inside the bag tight and stable.
1.2 About the Degassing Bagging Machine

Generally, we use a semi-automatic open-mouth bagging machine as the base and then equip two degassing rods inside the discharge port. The exhaust pipe connects the dust extraction port and the pulse dust collector. An electric cylinder controls the degassing rod to lift.
At the beginning of bagging, the degassing rod is hidden inside the discharge port, which is convenient for the staff to load the bag. After fixing the bag, turn on the running switch, and the degassing rod will fully extend into the bag. Then as the material level is raised, the degassing rod will slowly move upward. The process of degassing and rod retrieval are synchronized.
The degassing rod has a back-blow function. When the degassing rod is wholly exposed out of the material, it will blow once and blow off all the material stuck to the rod.
1.3 About the Degassing Rod
The typical degassing rod is manufactured from titanium metal. Under the high temperature and pressure environment, the titanium rod has a stable structure and uniform pore size distribution. Moreover, it has good chemical stability, is not easily corroded by materials, and has strong oxidation resistance.
According to the size of the customer’s material particles, we provide titanium rods with different pore sizes. Customers can also replace other titanium rods to meet the degassing needs of different materials, so our degassing bagging equipment has a wide range of applicability.

1.4 Process Description
The customer’s functional requirement for the whole production line is conveying + packaging. The material is fed into this production plant through an external conveying system and is packaged in two sizes: bulk bags + 25 kg open-mouth bags. Therefore, we designed a new bagging solution for them.
The whole line includes:
- Coal Ash Silo
- Belt Conveyor
- Semi-automatic Degassing Bagging Machine
- Bulk Bagging Machine
- Automatic Bag Sealing Machine
The whole system is composed of conveying and bagging techniques. The belt conveyor is used to transport the materials and connect the various automated terminals. The vibrating screen is used to separate materials of different sizes. Then many bulk and degassing packaging scales complete the packaging process for the materials.
This is the gross weight degassing bagging machine onsite. There are 4 units. Their feed bin and material conveyor are connected. Their packing speed can reach 150 bags/hour, and the weighing accuracy can get ±0.2%.
They are also equipped with a dust removal port, which can automatically absorb the dust scattered into the air during the packing process and transport it to the pulse dust collector through the dust removal pipe.
This is the bottom load-bearing bulk packaging scale onsite. There are 2 units. Their feed bins are also connected with a material conveyor. Because of the height limitation of the conveying pipe, we used the bottom load-bearing weighing method, with the load cell located at the bottom of the machine. It is capable of packaging at a speed of 10 bags/hour, and each tonne bag can hold 1 tonne of material.
The whole set of equipment automatically completes the process of storing, transporting, and bagging. Workers only need to fill and seal the bags at the end of the line, reducing the workload, improving productivity, and ensuring a clean environment.
